Great children's book, creatively told in first 'person', by Tipper the dog. I especially loved the introduction to spanish words!
This is a very sweet story of the life and rescue of a Mexican stray dog by expats told from the voice of the dog. It's a great story for all ages, but would engage best with 3-12 year olds. I recommend it to anyone who loves dogs or wants to teach empathy, care and respect for others and animals to children.
Heartwarming book about being a puppy in Mexico and finding the perfect parents! I love books about dogs told from their perspective in first person dog.
We also live in Mexico and have seen so many dogs looking for a home. Too many are abandoned and left to find their way.
This one has a happy ending!

Tipper the Happiest Dog is just that--a happy story about a happy dog, in spite of her unhappy beginnings, as told by Tipper herself. Although Tipper has been abandoned, mistreated and rejected by perspective owners, she remains positive. Her mother told her that the big dog in the sky is watching over her and that she must be good and always polite. This is an uplifting story with a happy ending. It may have been written for children, but it will be enjoyed by dog lovers of all ages.
The story takes place in Mexico, but it certainly could be the United States. There are so many homeless dogs in both countries. Tipper finds her forever home, but for many that is not the case; shelters and pounds put unwanted dogs to death every day.
Mexico has made great strides in solving the overpopulation of animals. The most important solution is neutering. A number of organizations in the Tijuana/Ensenada corridor have sprung up to provide free or almost free neutering of pets. Kudos to these dedicated doctors and volunteers.
